Singer Sitti will perform live in May to mark the 20th anniversary of her hit album “Café Bossa”.

In addition to wishing the album and its hit “Para Sa Akin” a happy 20th anniversary and birthday, the Filipino bossa nova singer made the revelation on Tuesday via a post on her Facebook page.

Sitti wrote, “Can’t believe it’s been that long.”

“I had no idea this album would cement my career as a recording artist,” she remarked. She continued, “Even now I am in disbelief that I could call myself that (recording artist).”

On May 17, Sitti will hold “Sittiscape: The City of Bossa” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in celebrate of the occasion.

The production company Fire and Ice Live will make the announcement regarding ticketing.

The album, which was released in 2006, played a pivotal role in popularizing the bossa nova genre in the Philippines and beyond. It featured hits like “Tattooed on My Mind” and “Para Sa Akin,” songs that have become staples in the local music scene and introduced a fresh, breezy sound to Filipino audiences.

A nostalgic trip through the smooth rhythms and heartbreaking melodies that have defined Sitti’s career is promised at the forthcoming event. Sitti has hinted at releasing new music this year, so fans may anticipate both new material and live performances of “Café Bossa” classics.

The concert will also feature surprise guest performances from fellow artists who have been inspired by Sitti’s pioneering sound. Organizers have teased collaborations with some of the Philippines’ top acoustic and jazz musicians, promising a rich and soulful musical experience.

Two decades since its release, “Café Bossa” remains a beloved album that not only launched Sitti’s career but also carved a niche for Filipino bossa nova in the wider music industry. Its influence can be seen in the new generation of artists blending international sounds with Filipino sensibilities.
