The viral meme was brought about by an episode of GMA-7’s two-year-old drama anthology Magpakailanman. It released on December 3, 2021.

It follows two “gay”friends named MJ and Lala as they deal with challenges in their lives through different forms of motivation, including gymnastics.

MJ asked regarding Lala’s emotions in that particular scenario. After a fight, the latter expressed his father was cold to him.

MJ then started spinning and asked Lala, “Bakit malungkot ang beshie ko?”

Lala responded with a cartwheel, “Kasi malungkot ang lola mo.”

Lovi Poe and Toni Fowler recently showed their comedic side on TikTok. They were performed their own version of the “ba’t malungkot ang beshy ko” craze.

The Batang Quiapo actors copied an episode clip. They performed a cartwheel and danced. As of this writing, the video on Fowler’s TikTok account has had 8.9 million views.
