A group of rowdy Scoot passengers who refused to fasten their seatbelts during the plane’s descent on Monday delayed the plane’s landing in Singapore.

Flight TR285 from Bali was approaching Changi Airport when the pilot decided to abort the landing due to the passengers.

In a TikTok video of the incident, the pilot is heard explaining his decision regarding the PA system.

“We have decided to discontinue the approach into Singapore Changi Airport… because I was informed we still have passengers who are not seated with their seatbelts securely fastened,” he stated.

“We are legally not able to land an aircraft if the cabin isn’t secured.”

Later in the video, auxiliary police are seen boarding the plane after it has landed to escort several passengers out.

According to a Scoot spokesman, the flight landed safely on the second approach, and the unruly passengers were escorted off the plane by airport authorities for further investigation.

“For the safety of passengers during flight, all passengers are required to be seated and to have their seatbelts securely fastened for take-off and landing, or until the seatbelt sign has been turned off,” she stated.

“The well-being of our customers and staff is our priority, and we do not condone behaviour that compromises flight safety. Scoot will take appropriate actions against any passenger who may risk the safety of our customers and staff.”

Disembarkation was delayed by approximately 30 minutes.

Scoot sincerely apologizes for the disruptions and inconvenience caused to customers, according to the spokesman.

She also urged the public to refrain from “unwarranted speculation” while investigations are still ongoing.

Singapore Airlines blacklisted a customer who was unruly and hit a cabin crew member on one of its flights last week on Monday.

Videos of the man yelling at a cabin crew member were also posted online.
