The mug shots of actor Mark Anthony Fernandez and Juanito Jose Diaz-Remulla III, the son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, who are both engaged in the marijuana issue, have gone viral on social media.

Mark, who was stopped by the PNP at a checkpoint in Pampanga in 2016 while transporting marijuana, was given a drug test and tested positive for marijuana but negative for shabu use. After that, the actor was imprisoned.

PDEA Chief Aaron Aquino surprised Mark in 2017 by acquitting him. On October 11, Juanito Jose Diaz-Remulla III was apprehended by Las Pias City Interdiction Task Group operatives for alleged property of suspected kush (cannabis) worth P1.3 million from abroad. Mr. Boying Remulla’s son was the recipient of the package he received from America.

However, the mug shots of the two people went viral because Mark, a well-known actor, was drug tested while Juanito Jose was not, according to the PDEA, and they stressed that there was no special treatment. The Remulla boy rejected drug testing on the advice of his lawyer, according to PDEA spokesperson Derrick Carreon.

The caption on the viral mug shots read, “A Tale of Two Mug Shots. Same case violation of RA 9165. Son of DOJ Secretary vs. an actor/ordinary citizen.” Juanito Jose’s face is obscured, while Mark’s is visible. Netizens mocked the difference between the two identities.
