Jason Marvin Hernandez has released a new song about letting go of a loved one and feeling regret over a wrongdoing, months after his breakup with fellow singer Moira Dela Torre.
In “Ako Nalang,” which was released today, Sept. 14, on YouTube and Spotify, Hernandez sings about a love where one person has given up fighting for the relationship.
In the song, Hernandez also admits to a previous mistake and expresses sadness over the end of a relationship.
Hernandez revealed the inspiration for “Ako Nalang” on his Twitter page yesterday, Sept. 13, prior to the song’s release.
While Hernandez did not provide any additional information about the song, fans believe “Ako Nalang” is about the songwriter’s divorce from Dela Torre, which he confirmed last May.
Hernandez admitted at the time that he had cheated on Dela Torre during their marriage. He accepted “full responsibility” for the events that led to their split and promised to “do [his] best to be better.”
Meanwhile, Dela Torre discussed her divorce from Hernandez during a June appearance on “Magandang Buhay,” admitting that she was confused about what happened to her marriage.
Hernandez and Dela Torre were married for three years. In 2019, they were married in a garden ceremony in Tagaytay.
