Herlene Budol assisted a family in locating a man who had gone missing from his house and was presumed dead after meeting him at a charity event.

When she visited Missionaries of the Poor in Manila earlier this week, the TV personality and Binibining Pilipinas contender met an elderly man, Danny Marquez. As seen on Budol’s Facebook page yesterday, July 20, one Real Aneth Florendo Tianela expressed satisfaction about discovering her lost family member in a Facebook post about the charity event.

Tianela said, “Thank you so much po sa’yo madam na nakita namin s’ya na buhay pa, ang buong akala po namin matagal na s’yang patăy,”

“Tumaas po balihibo ko. Akalain mo ‘yung sa simpleng pag-tulong ko ay may isang pamilya tayo mapagbubuklod-buklod at muling makakasama ang isa’t isa. Gusto ko etong ma-witness at ma-meet ‘yung nag comment at kasama uli si Tatay Danny sa Missionaries of the Poor,” Herlene said.

Budol then thanked God for making her an “instrument,” vowing to continue assisting others in need.

Prior to joining the Missionaries of the Poor, Marquez lived in Bicol with Tianela’s family for about 35 years until he became ill and fled. Tianela’s remarks on Budol’s Facebook post regarding her charity event on Tuesday, July 19, are the basis for this. Tianela claims that they started hunting for Marquez even before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, but they learned that he perished after public transportation was prohibited owing to quarantine rules.

A member of Budol’s charity team appears to have already contacted Tianela. As of this writing, it was unknown whether a family reunion had already been planned.

For one of four titles, Budol is up against 39 other Binibining Pilipinas competitors. Pilipinas International Bb., Pilipinas Intercontinental Bb., and Pilipinas Globe Grand International,Inc. Pilipinas She aspires to be the country’s first “Miss Grand International.”

The main coronation night of the beauty pageant will take place on July 31 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The event will be hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2016 Nicole Cordoves.
