Herlene Budol, a.k.a. “Hipon Girl,” formed relationships with elderly people and kids with autism while distributing food kits as part of an outreach program in Manila.
On her Facebook page today, July 19, the comedian-TV personality, who is competing in Binibining Pilipinas, provided a preview of her visit to the Missionaries of the Poor in Santa Ana, Manila.
“Visiting elders [and] children with disabilities. Mga Hiponatics, napaka-priceless ang feeling kapag gumawa ka ng mabuti para sa ibang tao,” she told her fans. “[…] Sobra po akong na-enlighten sa pagsali sa prestihiyosong patimpalak ng Binibining Pilipinas. ‘Yung alam ko may purpose ako at hindi lang batayan sa ganda.”
As she revealed in a Facebook post from yesterday, July 18, Budol also performed the “Paro Paro G” dance with the children of Missionaries of the Poor.
“Makakaasa kayo na ako’y babalik ‘pag mas nakalikom ako ng maraming pera mula sa kikitain ko sa pagvlo-vlog. Tutulong akong pagandahin ang pasilidad ng inyong lugar para matutunan ang pangangailangan sa bawat isa sa inyo,” she stated.
You may count on me to come back as soon as I get enough money from my vlogging. I’ll work with you to upgrade your facilities and determine all of your needs.
Being crowned at Binibining Pilipinas is only a “bonus” for Budol since she sees participating in the pageant as worthwhile in and of itself. She then gave her grandmother, Nanay Bireng, who died away last month, a tribute for her accomplishments in the pageant.
Budol declared herself a Binibining Pilipinas candidate last April and promised to promote autism awareness and early identification throughout her participation in the contest. She expressed the hope that she might educate parents about the value of early autism screening.
Budol received a tourism degree from the college earlier this week. During the national costume competition for Binibining Pilipinas last Saturday, July 16, she also dazzled spectators with her national outfit that was inspired by Higantes.
At the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the Binibining Pilipinas coronation night will take place on July 31. The event’s hostesses are Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2016 Nicole Cordova.
