Having been eliminated from the race for automatic Olympic qualification, Gilas Pilipinas has pivoted its attention towards achieving a long-awaited triumph against perennial rival China in their concluding match of the FIBA World Cup classification phase.

After facing defeats from the Dominican Republic, Angola, Italy, and South Sudan, the Filipino team is determined to bring an end to their string of disappointments as they square off against China at the Araneta Coliseum.

Gilas Pilipinas has redirected its efforts towards achieving a historic victory over arch-nemesis China in their pivotal final match of the FIBA World Cup classification stage.

“There’s one more game to be played and prepared as well as we can to again put on a fight against China on Saturday,” said Reyes.

“We’re trying to put everything together for one last push knowing that there’s no bearing except pride, fighting for the country, for service, which is exactly why we’re here in the first place,” said Reyes.

“No matter how difficult this job is, we’re here, we’re doing it, and hopefully we can come in and get to play our best on Saturday.”

“Jordan is an explosive scorer, he’s a really good player. They’re gonna have the crowd on their side. I don’t think that record shows how good (of a) team they are. They’re still a good team and they play with 
energy,” he said.
