After seeing Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told’s premiere, a lawyer couldn’t help but get emotional.
Produced by attorney The tragedy that befell the soldiers involved in the SAF’s “Oplan Exodus” on January 25, 2015, in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, is chronicled in the film Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told by Ferdinand Topacio.
There are many actors who appear in it, including Paolo Gumabao, Edu Manzano, Aljur Abrenica, Claudine Barretto, Gerald Santos, Alan Paule, Rey “PJ” Abellana, Jojo Abellana, Ronnie Liang, Myrtle Sarrosa, Ritz Azul, Rez Cortez, Juan Rodrigo, Jojo Alejar, Jim Pebanco, and Tom Olivar. On December 25, 2022, it’s anticipated to premiere in theaters.
Atty is one of those who saw the film for the first time. Darwin Canete previously posted on social media about his thoughts on the film. He claimed that former president Noynoy Aquino III played by actor Jervic Cajarop exhibited the traits of the ex-president.
Aquino gained national attention during the Mamasapano crisis for allegedly making poor decisions that led to the deaths of SAF personnel. On the other hand, Aquino’s portrayal in the movie was also shown in the Mamasapano trailer.
“The actor who played Noynoy drew on the actual Noynoy’s distinct qualities of moral cowardice, stupidity and abject laziness. I nearly shouted “leche ka Noynoy sana pinutok ka na lang sa inidoro!” everytime he appeared on screen,” Canete said.
In the meantime, the film’s producer, Atty. According to Ferdinand Topacio, he gave the film to the SAF member families as a gift.
“It is a redemption of my promise to the kin of the SAF44,” he said.
