In Pandag, Maguindanao’s incumbent mayor, Khaddafe “Toy” Mangudadatu, was arrested on murdèr allegations last Saturday in Davao City.

In a joint operation, Mangudadatu was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, the CIDG City Field Unit, the Maguindanao Police Provincial Office, the Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office, and the Davao City Police Office-City Mobile Force last Saturday.

The suspect, who has yet to provide a statement, is being held by the CIDG-BAR at the time of writing.

The operation was carried out in response to the suspected murdèr of married couple Abdulah Kanapia and Lala Ligawan in October 2010.

“The arrest of an incumbent mayor only shows the PNP’s stand to enforce the law equally to all, and without discrimination of his status in life and in the society,” according to Police Regional Office XI.
