In the midst of Typhoon Karding’s strike on Sunday evening, a flash flood in Barangay Camias in San Miguel, Bulacan, caused the deáth of four rescuers, according to Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando.
Fernando stated in an interview with the sorce that five employees of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) died in a flash flood while assisting rescue teams.
“Actually, lima ‘yan, apat na ngayon ang confirmed dead. Mga ano natin yun, team natin sa PDRRMO. Mga empleyado po natin ‘yun,” he stated.
One of the rescuers is still missing, according to Fernando.
He claims that the rescuers took a boat to reach their destination when their truck broke down on their way.
He stated that a wall collapsed and struck them because of a flash flood.
The family of the deád rescuers, he added, will get support.
As certain regions of the province are still under flood, some 2,000 people are still residing in evacuation sites, according to Fernando.
