“Bring Mary Jane Veloso Home” Went Viral

The family of Mary Jane Veloso, Migrante Philippines, and other groups call on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to save the OFW from death row while he is on a state visit to the country. “We urge Marcos Jr to be guided by conscience and to show the political will to appeal for the safe repatriation of Mary Jane Veloso based on humanitarian grounds.”

“The President wants us to speak with one voice. In matters of international relations… then these matters which may have an effect on our international relations must be coursed first for its messaging with the DFA,” according to Atty. Cruz-Angeles.

Cesar Veloso said his family was excited about Pres. Marcos’s Indonesia trip, hopeful it could end Mary Jane’s 12 years in jail.
“Sana huwag naman niya po pababayaan dahil pangatlong presidente na po siya. Ang dalawa, walang nagawa. Ang pag-asa na lang namin, siya.”

The Philippine government will “proceed with deliberation” on the case of Mary Jane Veloso, the Filipino worker who has been on death row for 12 years in Indonesia over drug-related charges.

The Department of Foreign Affairs will take the lead on any talks on the case of Mary Jane Veloso, the migrant Filipino worker in prison in Indonesia on a drug conviction, administration officials said Sunday.
