Belle Mariano, a Kapamilya actress, was a sight to behold on the red carpet at the 17th Seoul International Drama Awards, where she received this year’s Outstanding Asian Star award.
Mariano walked the carpet with Rise Artists Studio Head Mico Del Rosario wearing a pink gown suggestive of dragonfly wings.
China’s Wallace Chung, Japan’s Yusei Yagi, Taiwan’s Alice Ko, and Thailand’s Krit Amnuaydechkorn have also received the prize.
The five Asian musicians were chosen above almost 200 other performers, including Mariano’s “He’s Into Her” co-star Donny Pangilinan.
Mariano is also the first Filipina to get the award, following Gabby Concepcion, Dennis Trillo, Alden Richards, and Dingdong Dantes, the latter two of whom won back-to-back in 2019 and 2020.
The actress and Pangilinan co-starred in their debut film as the “DonBelle” love combo in 2021’s “Love is Color Blind,” and they will next be seen together in “An Inconvenient Love.”
Kim Seonho of Netflix blockbuster “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” was named Outstanding Korean Drama Actor; K-pop sensation Kang Daniel of “Rookie Cops” was named Outstanding Korean Idol Actor; and Blackpink’s Jisoo of “Snowdrop” was named Outstanding Korean Drama Actress.
