Thalita do Valle was an elite sniper who was fighting in Kharkiv on June 30 when she was killed by Russian forces.
The strike also claimed the life of Brazilian soldier Douglas Burigo, 40, who ran into a bomb shelter in search of the model.
Thalita’s brother, Theo Rodrigo Viera, called her a hero and appreciated her for putting her own life on the line to save others.
He revealed that his sister died after only about three weeks in Ukraine.
Theo clarified that she had been rescuing people while also working as a sharpshooter, giving protection from approaching Russian forces.
Thalita had earlier been in Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, where she had withstood a missile strike.
Throughout this time, she told her family that her cell phones were being surveilled by Russian drones and that she could only call to let each other know she was secured.
As an outcome, Thalita last spoke to her family last week, when she had just finally showed up in Kharkiv.
