Darryl Yap, the writer-director of Maid in Malacañang, responded to Joel Lamangan’s “patutsada” to his film on the Marcoses.
The seasoned director claimed that Maid in Malacañang represents the Marcoses’ attempt to twist the facts and cover their wrongdoings.
He added that he would watch the Darryl Yap film and create a “historical movie” that would be in opposition to Maid in Malacañang.
The younger filmmaker responded to Direk Joel’s “patutsada” for Direk Darryl and his film by posting on the Vincentiments Facebook Page.
According to Direk Darryl, he has great regard for the seasoned director and won’t speak badly of Direk Joel.
Due to the fact that the veteran director is among the pillars of the Philippine entertainment world, Direk Darryl stated that he would respond to Direk Joel with a “pagmamataas.” The younger director, though, sent a reminder.
However, Direk Darryl stated, “Pero mainam rin na paalalahanan siya na, hindi lang siya ang anak ng Diyos at ng Bayan, hindi lang siya ang may kwento at hindi lang ang mga kwento nya ang may kwenta.”
The controvers*al film’s director also responded to the experienced director’s allegations that the film was made using taxpayer money.
Direk Darryl emphasized, “VIVA ang nagproduce nito— kung saan dun din sya gumawa at patuloy na gumagawa ng pelikula.”
The younger director issued a challenge in response to Direk Joel’s statement.
He suggested that the seasoned director encourage other people who think Maid in Malacañang is “k*tar*ntaduh*n” to stop working with Viva.
“Kasi baka pera ng taumbayan yan, nakakahiya naman sa mga prinsipyo nila. yan eh, kung talagang yan ang ipinaglalaban at paninindigan niya yung mga sinabi niya kanina,” the younger director said. Despite the “patutsada” from the veteran director, the younger director said that he will not use any degrading word. “Sana maalala niya na Joel Lamangan na siya, hindi siya dapat nababahala sa isang Darryl Yap lang,” Darryl Yap stated.
