HANOI — Carlos Yulo won his sixth gold medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Monday, winning the men’s horizontal final at Quan Nga Sports Palace.
Yulo, who won gold in vault earlier today, tied for first place in horizontal bars with Dinh Phuong Thanh, a home bet.
Both gymnasts scored 13.867 with their routines, tying them for first place.
Thanh Tung Le, another Vietnam bet, finished third with a score of 13.433.
Yulo had a more challenging routine than Thanh, who only received a score of 5.000 compared to Yulo’s 5.400.
However, the Vietnamese gymnast made up for it in execution, earning a higher score (8.867) than Yulo (8.467).
Nonetheless, Yulo finishes with an astounding seven medals, including five golds.
Yulo won the floor exercise, vault, still rings, and men’s individual all-around competitions. His two silver medals were from parallel bars and the team event.
Thanh also edged out the Filipino in parallel bars, when he defeated Yulo’s score, 15.133 to 14.900.
