According to Professor Jomar Rabajante of the University of the Philippines (UP) Pandemic Response Team, the data provided by government is still being monitored.

“Kung iko-compare natin saan posibleng may kumalat na COVID, during the election ba or sa rally, masasabi ko posibleng sa mga rallies. Kasi doon sa rallies, galing sa iba’t ibang lugar, tapos malakihan. Eh kung titingnan natin nangyari yung rally, ilang days ago na, so for now nakikita natin, wala masyadong reported cases, which is somehow good. But we still need to wait for some days,” Rabanjante stated.

According to the expert, there may not be an upsurge of cases because certain voting stations in the country are open air.

The Department of Health stated that during the election, some of the public health guidelines were violated in various locations of the country.

“Mula sa mga nangyari kahit minsan, may mga presinto na maraming tao, nangyari naman kasi open air, so we expect na baka hindi naman magkaroon ng malaking surge sa mga susunod na araw,” he added.
