At the funeral of the “Queen of Philippine Movies,” Susan Roces, who played his Lola Flora in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” in Taguig City’s Heritage Park.
Coco also talked about how difficult it is to lose someone in one’s life. He, too, had some pleasant moments of her.
The actor said something about how Roces inspired him to keep the TV show going, confessing that he was taken aback by the renowned actress’ death, which was shown live on Grace Poe’s Facebook page yesterday, May 22.
It is well known that he was quite close to Susan and considered her to be his own grandma.
That’s why Coco couldn’t hold back his tears when giving his speech.
“Honestly, hindi ko talaga alam ang sasabihin ko ngayon,” he stated.
“Talagang shock ang nararamdaman ko kasi hindi ako makapaniwala na mangyayari ito dahil alalang-alala ko ‘yung huling pagkikita namin ni tita Susan na ang lakas-lakas at ang saya-saya niya,” Coco stated.
“Si tita Susan, hindi katrabaho lang ang tingin ko sa kanya. Malalim ‘yung pagtingin, pagmamahalan at respeto namin sa bawat isa,” he continued.
“Lahat po ng sinasabi niya dinidibdib namin kasi para po sa aming mga katrabaho niya at ako bilang apo niya sa industriya, ‘yung word of wisdom na sinasabi niya sa amin ay totoong tumatata sa isip at puso naming lahat,” he added. “Napakapalad namin na nakatrabaho namin siya dahil alam na niya lahat, pinagdaanan na niya ‘yan,” he added.
Martin then described how she counseled him not to be frightened by other superstars, emphasizing that one’s integrity and honesty are more important than anything else.
“La, kung nasaan ka man po ngayon, gusto ko pong malaman mo na lahat kami na nandito ay sobrang mahal na mahal ka at hinding-hindi ka po namin makakalimutan habangbuhay. I love you,” he remarked.
Susan Roces, originally named as Jesusa Purificacion Levy Sonora-Poe, was a Filipino actress and producer. She was the wife of Fernando Poe Jr., Ronald Allan Kelley Poe. Roces was known as the “Queen of Philippine Movies” and appeared in over 130 films.
