After many photos of him with basketball player Trina Guytingco went viral recently, Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia became a hot topic on social media once more.

For uploading photographs of Guytingco on Instagram Stories while on a beach vacation, which looked to be amidst Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo’s birthday celebration, Garcia provoked controversy.

Guytingco’s back towards the sunset was the first shot that sparked dating rumors between the two. More images eventually surfaced, including one in which Garcia can be seen placing his hand over the athlete’s shoulder.

On the trip, Garcia and Guytingco were accompanied by Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Ria Atayde, Kyle Echarri, Alora Sasam, and Zanjoe Marudo.

The actor has remained tight-lipped about the true score between him and Guytingco, but based on her social media posts, here’s what we know so far about her.

Guytingco, who was born and raised in California, was Bernardo’s best friend, having spent time with her both in the Philippines and abroad. Since 2014, she has shared an Instagram photo of herself with Bernardo and Padilla.

Her birthday was celebrated with Bernardo’s family, whom she referred to as her “second family.”

Guytingco traveled to the Philippines in 2015 to play for the Ateneo de Manila University women’s basketball team. In the same year, Ateneo advanced to the UAAP finals and won silver.

The Filipina cager said in one of her postings how challenging it is to be a student-athlete while still being a musician.

“It’s hard enough being a student, but when you also add athlete and self-proclaimed musician, it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen hahaha. But honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. You know what they say … good things come in threes,” she stated.

She was a member of the Ateneo women’s 3×3 team in 2019.

In Season 82, Guytingco finished sixth with a 5-9 win-loss record, capping her UAAP career.

The pandemic crisis ensued, resulting in a series of lockdowns and the cancellation of a number of activities, including graduation ceremonies.

Guytingco used Instagram to express her dissatisfaction with the impact of the health crisis, which made it impossible for her to mark a major milestone.

“To be brutally honest, I’m having a difficult time finding it in me to celebrate this achievement especially with everything that’s going on in the world. So many things that came to an abrupt end, leaving us with no closure,” part of her caption stated.
