MANILA, Philippines — Actress Ryza Cenon has offered to pay the P6,000 bail for 80-year-old man “Lolo Narding” Floro, who went viral on social media today after being detained and held for a week for accused of stealing 10 kilos of mangoes from a neighbor in Asingan, Pangasinan.

According to the Asingan Public Information Office, Lolo Narding was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the 7th Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) of Asingan-San Manuel on December 20, 2018. The neighbor supposedly declined to take Lolo Narding’s payment, instead insisting on having him detained and making him pay the P6,000 bond. Floro was arrested about 5 p.m. during a “manhunt operation.” According to the Asingan PNP.sinan spot report, the incident began on January 13 in Barangay Bantog

Floro was reported by the PIO as stating, “Pinapitas ko ’yung isang puno ng mangga wala pang sampung kilo, ang alam ko sakop namin. Noong binakuran nila, sinakop naman na nila pero tanim ko naman ’yun,”.

“Ang gusto ko sana (makipagkasundo), maliit lang naman kasi na bagay, noong ibibigay ko ‘yung bayad ayaw nilang tanggapin, ang sabi nila bayaran ko ng anim na libo,” Floro said in a Facebook post on Wednesday, January 18th, according to the Asingan PIO.

According to The Philippine Star’s Facebook post, “I would like to pay for his bail and legal services. How may I get in touch with Lolo? This makes my blood boil. Back to you guys. seriously.” Other celebrities have also shared their disappointment. Kim Atienza also volunteered to pay the bail.

Ryza decided to pay the bail so the man can return home, but her handler, Caryl Ann Paraico, couldn’t reach anybody from Asingan Police on Wednesday night. The actress had already requested assistance from PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in approaching authorities.
