When the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced commissioner Rowena Guanzon’s “separate opinion” on her vote to completely disqualify former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos from the 2022 presidential elections, it was formal.

“Commissioner Rowena V. Guanzon has allowed the distribution of her Separate Opinion in SPA No. 21-212 (DC),” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez wrote in a recent remark to media on Monday. Recently Rowena Guanzon challenged the BBM’s Comm. Ferrolino but Comm. Ferrolino didn’t reply for now to her challenge.

Guanzon stated this morning that he will give a copy of his reasons why Bongbong should not be able to run for president next year, something linked to the latter’s 1995 conviction for failing to file income tax returns.

Guanzon previously stated that the verdict against Marcos was “unreasonable,” especially given that it was agreed to be released on January 17. He also recently stated that he will expose the name of the legislator responsible for the delay in proclamation today.
