A Philippine Air Force C-130 plane carrying 85 soldiers crashed in Patikul, Sulu on Sunday, July 4. At least 17 people were killed and 40 others were injured.

Rescuers and troops conduct rescue operations after a C130 crashed and overshot at the runway of Jolo Airport in Sulu on Sunday. Initial reports say that 17 were recovered dead with more than 40 survivors who were brought to Camp Bautista General Hospital.

Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Cirilito Sobejana confirms. He says rescue operations for passengers and crew are ongoing.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirms that at least 17 have been killed in the plane crash that happened this Sunday in Sulu.

Vice President Leni Robredo extends her condolences to the families of those who died in a plane crash in Sulu on Sunday.

Senator Chiz Escudero tweet, “My sincerest condolences and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of those who perished on board the AFP C-130 that crashed in Jolo, Sulu and a sincere prayer for the fast recovery to those that survived.”
