Shooting incident took place in the city of Victorias, Negros Occidental at around 11:50 in the morning, March 25, 2021 involving a certain Hernani Pimentel, 66-year-old who shoots by Police Master Sgt. Valentin Cerdeña.
According to report Pimentel was attempting to stab the rescue team who were supposed to respond him because Pimentel reportedly wounded on his neck but he was trying to assault the rescue team. The incident prompted the rescue team to call a police. A certain Master Sgt. Valentin Cerdeña responded the call.
Report said that Cerdeña was trying to talk with the victim who was allegedly suffering nervous breakdown at the time of incident. But Pimentel look at the police and said, “shot me.”
Cerdeña told him “Tay ano ang problema, istoryahan ta, ibutang na ang binangon, miguhay ta ya,” he said.
The victim moves forward to stab Cerdeña, but he quickly move backward to shun from the assault until he was slipped and dropped the reason he grabbed his firearm and shot Pimentel to neutralize him but he continue assaulting the police.
The family of the confirmed that Pimentel was out of his mind due to nervous breakdown.
Lt. Col. Eduardo Corpuz, Chief of Police, Victorias Police Station said that Cerdeña was in the “imminent danger.” He was just doing his duty and protect himself. But Cerdeña was disarmed and investigation is ongoing.
