Travel Ban in 20 Countries with new COVID-19 Strain Begins

A travel ban from 20 countries with a new COVID-19 strain has been detected this morning.
According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the following countries are subject to travel ban:

  • United Kingdom
  • Switzerland
  • Denmark
  • Hong Kong
  • Ireland
  • Singapore
  • Japan
  • Germany
  • Australia
  • Iceland
  • South Africa
  • Italy
  • Israel
  • Spain
  • Netherlands
  • Lebanon
  • Canada
  • Sweden
  • France
  • South Korea

All passengers of the said countries will not be allowed to enter the Philippines as a precautionary measure according to the Inter-Agency Task Force. Passengers currently traveling from the said countries and arriving in the Philippines before December 30, will still be allowed to enter.

But they will be subject to strict quarantine and testing protocols. Even if their RT-PCR Test is negative they will have to complete the 14 days mandatory quarantine.
