‘Ghost Fighter’ live-action series at Netflix

Classic 90s shounen manga and anime Yu Yu Hakusho—more popularly known in the Philippines as Ghost Fighter—is getting a live-action series on Netflix, the streamer announced.

@NXOnNetflix Twitter posts stated that When Yusuke dies saving another’s life, he’ll embark on a journey across the world of humans, spirits, and demons to return to the land of the living. Yoshihiro Togashi’s legendary manga Yu Yu Hakusho will be a live action series on Netflix!

Netflix Content Acquisition Division director Kazutaka Sakamoto will be the executive producer and Teru Morii will produce, while ROBOT Co. Ltd. and Netflix will be jointly handling production.

On December 16, 2020, it was announced that Yu Yu Hakusho will receive a Japanese live-action series adaptation that will stream on Netflix worldwide, with Netflix contents acquisition director Kazutaka Sakamoto serving as executive producer and Akira Morii producing the series at Robot.

The story revolves around Yusuke Urameshi, a high school student who spends his days getting into fights. After dying in an accident while trying to protect a young child, he is given a chance to be revived, and after passing his trial, he becomes an Underworld Detective. From there, Yusuke quickly becomes entwined in a mystery that envelopes the human, demon and spirit worlds. (Source GMA)
