Manila Mayor Isko Moreno gives an order to close Manila cemeteries this coming All Souls Days from October 31 to November 3 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.
He recently signed an Executive Order No. 38, which announced the closure of the Manila Cemeteries. The said dates is cover the days of traditional annual visits to cemeteries, which will cause crowd.
According to Mayor Isko in a Facebook live post, “Simula ngayon hanggang October 30 maari kayong bumisita na. Ang punto po ngayon pa lamang nakabisita kayo sa inyong mahal sa buhay.”
Moreno also pleads to understand their decision as it is the effect of the new normal. He also promised residents that if the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) will be eased or gone by October 31 he will rescind the executive order.
“Pasensiya na po kayo, ito ay isa sa mga epekto ng tinatawag na new normal. Bibigyan ko naman kayo ng pagkakataon kung sakali naman patuloy na bumuti ang sitwasyon natin sa pandemyang ito, ibig sabihin wala nang kaso ng coronavirus sa lungsod ng Maynila pagdating ng October 31, akin pong babawiin itong Executive Order na ito,” Moreno said.
Recently, Mayor Isko had offered incentives of P100k for those barangays and villages with zero cases of COVID-19. He announced that the village who will record zero infected cases will get a reward.
