Actor Matt Evans was arrested at his home in Sampaloc, Manila, last Friday, July 31, 2020 in connection to another case aside from Republic Act 9262 or the Anti Violence Against Women.
According to the report, the arrest of the 33-year-old on his home was due to his “child support” case that was filed by Johnelline Hickins his former live-in partner with whom the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate has daughter with her.
Similar report published on Philippine Entertainment Portal saying that the arrest of Matt makes the actor completely surprise because he said that he did not received a subpoena in the ground of the said case. But according to the police record from the office of Manila Police District on the Warrant and Subpoena Section (MPD-WSS) the warrant of arrest was served by the Presiding Judge Carmencita Lacandazo Logan of Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 12 with corresponding bail amounting to Php36,000.
The camp of the actor is yet to reply regarding the case.
As to remember, Police Record shows that Matt was arrested on October 21, 2012 in connection to the alleged hurting of her live-in partner Hickins, the daughter of the 80’s sexy star Coca Nicolas.
During this time, her brother Juan Alberto stands as a state witness. According to the statement of Juan Alberto, Matt and his sister Johnelline exchanged heated argument resulting Johnelline falling down the stairs.
“Ang bilis ng pagbaba niya, sa bilis ng pagbaba nila, hindi man lang nakuhang hawakan ni Matt yung kapatid ko para hindi man lang siya tumama sa pader,” Juan Albeto narrated.
Juan Albeto added that he made a face-to-face confrontation with Matt resulting to a physical fight. Johnelline tried to stop them which also ended up that Matt punches her.
According to Juan Alberto, the fight leads to the point that Matt threatened him with a knife. But the actor strongly denied the allegation.
But on the other report told the other side of the story where Matt who was actually hit on the leg and the one who was threatened with a knife by his adversary and it also said that all accusations are just a lie.
On October 22, 2012 the actor was released from jail after paying the bail of Php200 pesos for a slight physical injury charges leading to the dismissal of the case under RA 9262 Anti-Violence Against Women and Children on April 2013
Matt is now married to a businesswoman Riza Katrina-Evans who was also put behind bars in December 2019 for estafa but the court released her after paying Php30,000 bail.
