The massive explosion on Beirut Lebanon on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 has cause a widespread damage on properties and left number of people to suffer from severe wound.
As of the report from Reuters, due to tje explosion, at least 78 people got killed and nearly 4,000 were injured in the explosion in port warehouses that are storing highly explosive material.
Out of that number, 2 Filipinos were killed while six others were injured following the twin blasts that rocked the port of Beirut on Tuesday, said the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Beirut, the Filipino casualties were in their employers homes during the explosion.
The shockwaves from the blast shattered windows, smashed masonry and made the ground shook across the Lebanese capital.
Furthermore, officials said that they are expecting the death toll to rise as emergency workers dug through rubble to rescue people and remove the dead.
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Hasan Diab has declared Wednesday a day of mourning, and President Michel Aoun called for “urgent” defense council talks.
