Philippine COVID-19 Cases Reach to 38,805 as of July 2, 2020

The country’s COVID-19 cases now stand at 38,805, with the DOH announcing 294 more infections. Of the new cases, 52 were detected in the last three days while 242 were part of the validation backlog.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that “The number of reported cases for today is low likely because we adjusted the time when we extract from the DOH epidemiology bureau the data from the COVID-Kaya system. From the 24 hours before, these numbers are only from 19 hours worth of data because we changed the process.” 

According to DOH updates, As of 4 PM today, July 02, 2020, the Department of Health reports the total number of COVID-19 cases at 38,805. In addition to the 52 fresh cases, 242 late cases were also reported today.

Today’s fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 51 out of 72 current operational labs. DOH likewise announces 235 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 10,673.
