The ABS-CBN CEO and President Carlo Katigbak went emotional while thanking his fellow “Kapamilya” for the support after their franchise renewal has been denied by the lawmakers.
On Friday July 10, the House Franchise Committee has denied the plea of the giant TV network ABS-CBN, with a 70-11 voting result.
Recalling, prior to that, there are at least twelve (12) hearings that were held for members of the Committee voting over the issue. And it was 2 months now since the broadcasting operation of the Kapamilya network was shut down after the National Telecommunications Office (NTC) issued a Cease and Desist Order against the network over its expired franchise.
The plea of the ABS-CBN network to be given a fresh 25-year franchise has been denied. It was after its franchise expired and several issues poped up and were thrown against the network.
With that decision, lot of people especially the employees of the network gets emotional for losing their jobs.
ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak has been attending the hearings regarding the renewal of franchise. A lot of people admired him for his calmness in responding to the queries and allegations thrown at their network. However, in a very rare occasion, ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak found it hard to hold his emotion.
In a video posted by actor Gerald Anderson, it shows that the strong president become weak as he speaks up about the denial of the franchise. Katigbak had expressed his gratitude to everyone who supported them through out their journey.
Actor Gerald Anderson captioned his post referring to Katigbak, it stated that; “boss has a title” while a “leader has the people”.
