As we all know, Security officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of a company’s employees, visitors, and associated property. Security officers were tasked with patrolling a designated area, responding to safety and security threats, and establishing a security presence.

Based on GMA news on Wednesday, one security guard has gone beyond his regular duties and has chosen to teach street children to read and write.

The Security Guard is known as Renz Abelita. He is a security guard in a pawnshop in Manila. He helps the street kids to read and write amidst the lockdown.

According to Renz, “Wala naman akong gagawin, wala namang customer. So ang ginagawa ko basic muna. sabi ko, “Sulat niyo pangalan niyo.” Hindi marunong. Pero kapag sabi mo ” Ano’ng panhalan mo?” alam nila. Pero kapag pinapasulat mo, hindi nila alam.

Abelita started teaching one child. But today, he serves as the tutor to four children.

Abelita said that after they learned to write down their names, the lessons were extended to the basics of reading and writing.

Based on some reports, the children are cousins, who live near the pawnshop that Abelita guards.

He prepares the lesson plans at night and also give exams for the children.

And every day, he adds, he sees an improvement in the children.

Abelita once asked the children for the reason they stopped going to school. And the children told him that their mother had to tell them to stop going to school because they do not have enough funds to send them to school.
