President Rodrigo Duterte declares May 25, 2020, as a regular holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr

Top Trending topic online! The Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared May 25, 2020 a regular holiday in observance of Eid‘l Fitr. According to Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, “The National Commission of Muslim Filipinos has recommended to declare Monday, May 25, a national holiday in observance of Eid‘l Fitr.” 

The entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, subject to existing community quarantine and social distancing measures. 

Eid’l Fitr is celebrated by the Muslim world for three (3) days after the end of the month of fasting. 

Meaning of Eid’l Fitr is also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. This religious Eid is the first and only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast.
