President Duterte Gives PHP30,000 cash prize to those who will report local officials involved in corrupting funds for Social Amelioration Program (SAP)

President Duterte will be giving a PHP30,000 cash prize to those who will report local officials involved in corrupting funds intended for the Social Amelioration Program (SAP). “Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said President Rodrigo Duterte will be giving a PHP30,000 cash prize to those who will report local officials involved in corrupting funds for SAP.” 

The Philippines President Duterte messages to the local executives, “We are not asking you, we are requesting you to help us kasi hindi talaga kaya ng national government lang. Without the local executives, patay, we will crumble.” 

Over 12.1 million low-income families have received emergency subsidies amounting to P65.8 billion under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP). The total number of beneficiaries served is 67 percent of 18 million low-income households targeted to receive cash assistance nationwide. 

On 24 March 2020, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11469 or the ‘Bayanihan to Heal As One Act’ to curb the continuing rise of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country. The passage of the law comes following an order placing the entire Luzon under ‘Enhanced Community Quarantine’ and the declaration of Proclamation Nos. 922 and 929 (series of 2020) that places the country under a ‘State of Public Health Emergency’ and ‘State of Calamity’.
