PRC Cancels March 29, 2020 Teachers (L.E.T) Board Exam Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) releases a statement that they canceled the examination of March 29, 2020 Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the Philippines. Aside from the Teachers Board Exam, the conduct of the following licensure examinations/assessments is hereby CANCELLED:

  • Qualifying Assessment for Foreign Medical Professionals (March 14, 2020)
  • Physician Licensure Examination (March 15-16, 2020)
  • Medical Technologists Licensure Examination (March 18-19, 2020)
  • Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (March 29, 2020)
  • Licensure Examination for Electronics Engineers and Electronics Technicians (April1-3, 2020)
  • Licensure Examination for Midwives (April 5-6, 2020)
  • Licensure Examination for Registered Electrical Engineers and Registered Master Electricians (April 14-16, 2020)
  • Licensure Examination for Pharmacists (April 26-27, 2020)

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 922 dated 8 March 2020 declaring a state of public health emergency throughout the country, and the recommendations of the Department of Health (DOH) and Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF) to prohibit mass gatherings, and to further ensure the safety of the examinees and employees of PRC.

LET is one of the biggest licensure exams in the Philippines, more than 100, 000 individuals nationwide are expected to take the one-day exam.

PRC also stated the announcement on the new schedules of the affected licensure examinations will be posted on the PRC website and/or PRC social media accounts.

Recently, as of Mach 12, 2020, the department of health confirms 49 cases of COVID-19. Novel Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) causes fever and cough for most people but can cause serious illness such as pneumonia. The latest update of Coronavirus Worldwide, more than 126,054 people have been infected and over 4,616 have died worldwide from the novel coronavirus, have reached some 80 countries and territories. There are 67,057 recovered from the epidemic disease.
