4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Columbio (Sultan Kudarat) March 14, 2020

BREAKING NEWS! the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded that Magnitude 4.4 Earthquake Jolts Capoocan (Leyte). The time of impact is 02:37:34 AM on Saturday morning, March 14, 2020.

PHIVOLCS also recorded the location of the quake, 06.80°N, 124.98°E – 004 km S 71° E of Columbio (Sultan Kudarat) and the Depth of Focus (Km) is 010. There are no casualties that have been damage.

Intensity IV – Kidapawan City; Makilala and M’lang, Cotabato
Intensity III – Columbio, Sultan Kudarat; Magpet, Cotabato
Intensity II – Matalam, Cotabato
Instrumental Intensities:
Intensity IV – Kidapawan City
Intensity III – Malungon, Sarangani
Intensity II – Koronadal City
Intensity I – Tupi, South Cotabato

This is the usual scenario in the Philippines because we are under the Pacific Ring Of Fire where active and dormant volcanoes reside. The red dot represents the epicenter of the earthquake.

Phivolcs warned for possible aftershocks and other incidents that could harm people’s lives.

Tsunami is also the greatest threat after the quake as the wave moves backward from the seashore and produces a gigantic wave that has a strong power to crush its path.
