Magnitude 7.3 Hits Cuba Region, No Tsunami Threat to the Philippines

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded that the magnitude 7.3 hits Cuba Region has no Tsunami Threat to the Philippines. According to Phivolcs, A major earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 occurred in Cuba Region on 2020 January 29 at 03:10 AM (Philippine Standard Time) located at 19.3 °N, 78.8 °W with depth of 010 km. No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data.

However, In Cuba region reports that there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Catholic cultural center in the center of Santiago, Belkis Guerrero says, “We were all sitting and we felt the chairs move,” she said. “We heard the noise of everything moving around.”
