When thinking about bacteria-infested things inside our household or in the office, we usually think of the toilet bowl. But new research from IT Training website CBS Nuggets has come up with new study that there are more dirtier items than the toilet bowl everywhere.
The computer keyboard which mostly used for hours in the office seemingly gets over 20,000 times of bacteria than the toilet seat. Based on a test, they carry out mostly from five common work equipment that can cause sickness and nasty infections.
- The electronic badge found to have the most with 4,620,000 bacteria per square inch (CFU/sq.in), beating the pet toy for 243 times with 19,000 CFU/sq.in.
- The computer keyboard has 3,543,000 CFU/sq.in. and had 20,598 times more bacteria than the toilet seat which has 172 CFU/sq.in only.
- The gadget that we always touch like mobile phones has 1,600,082 CFU/sq.in. and is 31,374 times more bacteria than the pen.
- The mouse had 1,370,068 CFU/sq.in which makes it dirtier than the toilet handle which has 30 CFU/sq.in only.
- And lastly, the most commonly used office equipment is the trackpad that prove to have the minimal of 810 CFU/sq.in., compared to money which have 5 CFU/sq.in only. The trackpad has 162 times more bacteria than it.
The CBS Nuggets added, to effectively keep bacterial counts low, we must regularly clean and wipe out gadgets and their surfaces thus always washing our hands properly after.
