In England, experts found 700-year-old skeleton couple found buried together holding hands in long-lost chapel in the countryside of Leicestershire in Hallaton, England.

University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) first discovered the “700-year-old skeleton couple” with local volunteers during a dig at once in the Chapel of St. Morell.

In the report from University Press of Leicester, the Chapel of St. Morell is a 14th-century pilgrimage site in Hallaton, England.

Aside of skeleton couple, archaeologist also found other nine skeletons at the site, and it is examined in Radiocarbon and found out are those bones also buried during 14th century.

Further that, archaeologists wondering about the cause of death of those bones, it is alleged that they are “Criminals, Foreigners, or Sick.”

Vicky Score, project manager of ULAS had a statement regarding to the 14th-century skeletons buried in Chapel of St. Morell, she said “The main question we find ourselves asking is why were they buried up there? There is a perfectly good church in Hallaton. This leads us to wonder if the chapel could have served as some sort of special place of burial at the time.”

The Leicestershire skeleton couple is not the first time to discover that buried together holding hands in history. In fact, in 2011, Italian archaeologist discovered of remains of a couple holding hands in northern Italy. It is examined that the skeletons are buried during 5th or 6th century.

And in 2013, Romania discovered a skeleton of a couple that died during 1450 to 1550 and “seemingly bound in a endless embrace of love.”
