Department of Health reports 213 New Cases of COVID-19 as of May 21, 2020

There were 213 new recorded cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines, bringing the total to 13, 434, the Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday (May 21, 2020). In the official Facebook page of DOH, “As of 4PM today, May 21, 2020, the Department of Health reports 213 new cases (PH13222-PH13434) of COVID-19. NCR with additional 98 new cases, Region 7 with 98 additional new cases and 17 new cases from different Regions. The total number of cases in the country is now at 13, 434. DOH also announces 68 new recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 3,000.” 

DOH urges all individuals who will be contacted by surveillance teams to fully cooperate in the investigation and contact tracing activities. Individuals with history of known exposure to a positive patient and/or history of travel to areas with local transmission, with mild symptoms such as fever, dry cough, fatigue, productive phlegm, sore throat, headache are advised to self-isolate and be home quarantined for 14 days. Those presenting severe and critical symptoms need to be immediately admitted to health facilities. They are urged to get in touch with DOH and call the designated hotline at (02) 8-651-7800 loc 1149-1150 for appropriate management and referral. 

Now the cure or antibody is not yet discovered and experts predict this will be available the next year 2021, which is alarming. 

In Global tally, 5,000,561 million confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 1,899,675 have been recovered from the deadly disease, and 3328,172 deaths.
