According to PHIVOLCS-DOST, A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.9 occurred in Bonin Islands, Japan Region on 2020 April 18 at 04:26 PM (Philippine Standard Time) located at 27.2 oN, 140.7 o E with depth of 485 km. No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data. This is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake.
