There have also been reports of power disruptions in Brgy. Cogon and Banban, while the earthquake caused transportation operations to be disrupted and some areas to momentarily lose their water supplies.

Bogo City Mayor Mayel Martinez said, “There have been no reported major damages to infrastructure within the city based on the initial assessment and reports submitted by our concerned offices.”

Families that had been evacuated were not reported.

In the meantime, a number of buildings in San Remigio town that were destroyed after the 6.9-magnitude earthquake last year experienced additional damage.

The San Remigio Bureau of Fire Protection headquarters and the parish building were among them.

The magnitude 5.1 earthquake, according to PHIVOLCS experts, is a continuing aftershock series from the strong 6.9-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the same region on September 30, 2025.

Thousands of homes were damaged, hundreds of thousands of people were impacted, and the earlier earthquake caused extensive damage throughout northern Cebu.

Authorities advised locals to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions, warning that aftershocks might persist in the days ahead.

Following the earthquake, local disaster teams, notably the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), mobilized right away to evaluate impacted regions and assist locals.

  • As a precaution, classes and work were momentarily interrupted in some regions of the Visayas.
  • To maintain safety while structural investigations were conducted, hospitals and other facilities were temporarily evacuated.

Authorities at the municipal and national levels emphasized the significance of being ready, particularly in regions that are still recuperating from the last significant earthquake. In the event of additional aftershocks, residents were instructed to stay informed through reliable sources and adhere to suggested safety procedures.
