Because Filipinos spend so much time online—scrolling, watching, listening, and even engaging in online debates—the podcast industry is booming in the Philippines, according to a study conducted by Mammoth Media, iHeartRadio’s joint venture partner throughout Asia.

Mammoth Media is helping OPM icon Gary Valenciano launch his podcast. Valenciano will interview some of the nation’s most prominent people for “Unshaken: Stories of Grit and Grace,” and he thinks viewers could learn something from them. However, he said he should get to know each guest personally.

Valenciano said ABS-CBN News, “I’m careful about politics. That’s why I only chose si Sen. Kiko (Pangilinan), my brother-in-law,” in response to the question of whether he intends to interview politicians or pursue that career route in the future.

The OPM icon continued by saying that he wants to delve deeply into politicians’ true nature if he ever features them.

Then he listed former senator and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao as one of the politicians he would want to speak with.

The press conference for “Unshaken: Stories of Grit and Grace” was held at Manila House Private Club in BGC, and attendees included creative director and producer Rinka SyCip, as well as executives from Mammoth Media, iHeartRadio’s partner, Jay Faires, and Charlie Newberry.

As part of Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management’s 40th anniversary in business, the podcast will launch in the middle of April. It will be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and iHeart’s YouTube channel.

In a statement shared Wednesday, Gary V said he admires Pacquiao’s story of grit and achievement, from rising out of humble beginnings in the Philippines to becoming one of the greatest fighters in boxing history. He stated that an in-depth conversation with Pacquiao would explore not just the athlete’s career highlights but also the personal and philosophical lessons learned along the way.

Since retiring from full-time boxing, Pacquiao, an eight-division world champion and one of the most renowned Filipino athletes of all time, has continued to be well-known through a variety of endeavors. He is an interesting topic for long-form interview formats since, in addition to his sporting legacy, he has been involved in politics, business, and philanthropy.
