Jewel Mische, a former actress, revealed that she is a Republican and supports US President Donald Trump’s position, although she insisted that she disagrees with some of the choices made. As an immigrant herself, she empathized with individuals who are being deported by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Jewel broke her silence after “assumptions have been made” regarding her attitude.
She revealed that because she was not a US citizen at the time, she also had to go through the ICE process. She remembered how the “fear was real,” knowing that she could be deported at any time.
Jewel maintained that she was “treated fairly” despite the terror since she obeyed the rules, which ultimately resulted in her being awarded US citizenship.
The former actress expressed how she feels for those who are feeling the anguish and is grieving with them, expressing how she hoped it “were not part of the process” that they have to go through.
She expressed, “Because of that experience, I don’t speak about immigration lightly. I grieve for families who are suffering right now. I grieve for innocent people who are affected. I wish deeply that pain were not part of the process,”
She asserted that she still supports the President’s job and his immigration policy while having empathy for those impacted. While it could be heartbreaking altogether, Jewel insisted that she doesn’t lack compassion and also doesn’t agree with “every decision” that her President takes.
“But holding compassion for those who suffer does not require me to attack the President,” she explained.
The former actress cares “deeply” about people who were in her shoes a few years ago, but she still believes in “lawful order.”
“I will continue to pray for leadership. And I will continue to pray for those who suffer,” she ended.
