MANILA — After being implicated in multiple robberies and holdups on Arsonvel Street in Barangay San Isidro, Makati on Wednesday, January 28 at approximately 7:48 p.m. and in another incident on Saturday, January 24, six police officers assigned to the Malate Police Station were taken into arrest.

The report states that Manuel, the 55-year-old victim, was beaten by the suspects while he was leaving his home to buy rice.

They allegedly used a lighter to burn his skin before stealing his phone and P700 in cash.

“Bibili lang sana ako ng bigas noon, biglang dumating sila. Yung isa kinuha pera ko, yung isa pilit pa nga binuksan yung GCash ko. Eh, sabi ko, ‘walang laman ‘yan, sir’.”

Witness Rose Marie recounted the violence Manuel suffered.

Additionally, it emerged that Rose Marie, 44, had been abused by the same group in her home on January 24.

Additionally, a 57-year-old male was robbed. The suspects, who identified themselves as police officers and concealed their faces, showed up at around 6 p.m. as two women and the male victim were using the CR in their home.

The victim claims that the man was robbed of P50,000, $9,000, a wallet, and a cellphone after being threatened with a gun, thrown to the ground, and handcuffed.

Rose Marie’s cellphone was also taken by the suspects.

The male victim was seen strolling with two women he purportedly met in Malate on the barangay CCTV. The male victim was shown on camera sprinting out of the alley a short while later. The luggage he was carrying was gone.

The culprits were often seen in the area, Rose Marie added.

The officers were arrested following a joint operation led by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Affairs Service and the Makati City Police District after evidence linked them to several armed robberies targeting residents and establishments in the area.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the need for continuous vigilance and accountability within law enforcement agencies. Authorities vow to strengthen measures to root out corruption and ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
