MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Thursday that police officers who are devotees of Jesus Nazareno will be allowed to participate in Traslacion 2026 and practice their faith.

Hundreds of police officers will become devotees of the Traslacion, according to NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin in a chance interview.

Aberin said, “Yung mga pulis na sasama bukas, mga deboto, we allowed them to practice their faith, siyempre may mga panata rin sila, may request sila if pwede sila sumali, pinayagan natin, on one condition na tumulong sila sa kaayusan, yung flow ng procession, maayos,”

The police officers will have to walk barefoot and won’t be wearing uniforms.

Aberin said that they must act like normal devotees of Jesus Nazareno and are prohibited from carrying any firearms.

He said, “We’ll make sure na may direction yung pupuntahan, pero kung ano po ang ginagawa ng deboto, yun din po gagawin nila,”

‘PAHALIK’

On the second day, however, the traditional Pahalik drew larger audiences.

Many made it a point to retain their dedication even when they were suffering from serious ailments.

In the meantime, Anna Joy Zulueta came to the Pahalik to continue her decades-long devotion despite having a thyroid problem.

Before the actual Traslacion on Friday, thousands of devotees are staying the night.
