At a recent press conference when she was introduced as a brand ambassador for a new line of cat food and treats, actress and model Liza Soberano shared her most recent experience as a first-time animal rescuer. The US-based artist, who is a member of the voice cast for the upcoming animated film Forgotten Island from DreamWorks, spoke about rescuing five cats from the streets of her home city of Los Angeles, California. She talked about her experience at the Prof. Bengal cat food and treat launch, which took place in Pasay City on November 6.

According to Soberano, the rescue happened over the course of several days, after she repeatedly saw the same group of cats near a parking lot in her area. Concerned about their safety, she returned with food and water, eventually gaining their trust.
From there, she coordinated with a local animal shelter and a vet clinic to ensure the cats were vaccinated, checked for health issues, and placed in temporary foster care.

“I learned so much—about feeding schedules, medical needs, and even how to gently socialize animals that have never been touched before,” she said. “It made me appreciate rescuers and shelters even more.”

Soberano added that the experience motivated her to support more animal welfare organizations, both in the Philippines and abroad.

At the event, Soberano explained why she was drawn to working with Prof. Bengal specifically. The brand, known for its high-protein, grain-free formulas and natural ingredients, emphasizes feline nutrition and responsible pet care—values Soberano says align with her newfound role as a rescuer.

Company executives shared that Soberano’s advocacy made her an ideal ambassador, citing her “genuine love for animals and positive influence on young audiences.”

Though currently busy promoting Forgotten Island—her first voice role in a major Hollywood animation—Soberano said that caring for animals has become an unexpected but welcome part of her routine.

Fans praised the actress online for her compassion, with many sharing their own rescue stories and thanking her for using her platform to raise awareness.
