According to the state weather bureau, PAGASA, a trough or extension of a low-pressure area will bring rain to most of the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration issued the most recent weather update in the country on Monday, January 9, 2023. The LPA’s extension and the northeast monsoon will have an impact on the country’s weather.

According to PAGASA, a low-pressure area may enter the Philippine area of responsibility. It was last seen in Mindanao, 650 kilometers east-southeast of General Santos City.

Visayas and Mindanao will be affected by the trough of the low pressure area (LPA), while Luzon will be affected by the northeast monsoon.

Over Visayas, Mindanao, the Bicol Region, and the southern portion of Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, the LPA’s trough will bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The rest of Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of MIMAROPA, Quezon, and Aurora will experience similar weather conditions from the northeast monsoon.

“Sa ngayon nga, maliit pa rin iyong tsansa na ito’y maging bagyo pero pumasok man o hindi, maging bagyo man o hindi, inaasahan natin na patuloy itong magdadala ng mga pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao, kasama riyan iyong bahagi ng Palawan. Particular na iyong trough o extension nito, maari ring umabot hanggang sa may bahagi ng Bicol region,” Obet Badrina, a state weather specialist, stated

Over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains.

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood warning due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough across the country.
