In a recent podcast episode, Slater Young issued an apology to his followers after receiving criticism for his statement that it is “normal” for men to have fantasies about other women while being in a committed relationship.

After his remarks went viral, he promptly issued an apology. He admitted that it was an eye-opener for him after few days of processing what had happened.

“Sometimes you think that you did something OK and it takes a little while for it to sink in na, ‘Oo nga no, mali pala talaga ako,” he said. “Kasi s’yempre pag merong mga comments and merong mga reactions na parang ina-attack ka your first instinct is to be defensive,” Slater added.

“I finally realized: ‘Oh my god, yeah, I really made a mistake because I’m giving it power to say it’s okay. And me saying it’s normal kind of normalizes it and makes it okay – which the last thing in my mind and my heart would be – to objectify women.”

“…I think yun talaga yung pinaka malaki kong learning. A big eye opener for me. I truly, truly do apolgize in my hearts of heart hindi talaga ako pro-objectifying women but yun yung mga words na sinabi ko, yun yung effect na nagawa ko sa mga sinabi ko. It’s a learning experience for me, especially given the platform that we have.”
