Last night, June 16, 2022, Robin took the oath of office as a senator at Malacaang, directly in front of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Mariel and Robin were joined at the swearing-in ceremony by their two children, Isabella and Gabriela.
The actor-turned-public servant’s mother and other family members were also there for the oathtaking.
Mariel said on Facebook today, June 17, “Robin’s Oath taking last night with PRRD. Maraming maraming salamat po Mr.President!!!
“We are sooo sooo sooo proud of you @robinhoodpadilla”
Mariel believes her husband has a lot of potential and will be a successful politician in the Senate.
Mariel also stated that she was confident in her husband’s ability to thrive in his role as a senator.
“I KNOW you will be an amazing and effective Senator. All eyes on you… but that’s okay we like challenges. [thumbs up emoji], she said.
“When you were taking your oath, i told myself Robin was born to be GREAT. Meron talagang mga tao na destined to excel… si Robin ganun.”
Her message to her husband, “You got this babe! We are behind you, beside you and with you all the way. God speed! Allah hu Akbar! Robin Padilla”
Robin was declared the number one senator in the recently conducted 2022 National and Local Elections, receiving 26.4 million votes.
On the night of May 9, the actor remarked in a live interview with Jessica Soho’s Robin that he did not anticipate her dominating the senatorial election due to his lack of equipment and money.
Robin said, “Wala po akong inaasahan kahit ano. Unang-una, wala po akong kahit ano.
“Wala po akong makinarya, wala po akong kahit ano… pera. Wala. Hindi ko po inaasahan ito.
“Ang akin lamang po ay paninindigan. Ang akin lamang po ay nananalig po ako sa Panginoong Diyos at tulung-tulong lang po ng mga naniniwala sa akin.
“Tulong ng katipunan, tulong ng mga rebolusyonaryo. Yun lang po, wala akong inaasahan.”
Robin, a well-known Duterte loyalist, has been supported by the President for the 2022 elections.
He is also a member of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Senate Carpio’s teams.
