According to Acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin Andanar, the recipients include individuals who are currently receiving government subsidies under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4Ps.
“That’s about 12 million people,” he remarked.
A household may receive between P1,400 and P3,000 per month in health and education subsidies under the 4Ps program, depending on the number of children in the home and if the household fits the government’s criteria.
According to Andanar, the monthly P200 stipend would be paid as a “unconditional” cash transfer for a year.
“Ito pa ay on top of the 4Ps na ibibigay doon sa ating beneficiaries ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program,” Andanar stated.

President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines agreed on Wednesday the issuance of a P200 monthly stipend to impoverished households for a whole year in order to mitigate the impact of gasoline price increases.
The Department of Finance (DOF) offered the P200 monthly subsidy as an alternative to suggestions to suspend the excise tax on petroleum items. Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez acknowledged that the sum may not be sufficient, but stated that it is all that the government can afford to offer at this time.
